i currently serve on the Medicaid Advisory Committee and with SB1 passed in 2026, new work requirement reporting is expected to remove another 100,000 people off Medicaid. I am currently the ranking minority member on Insurance. Every year we work to find ways to bring the cost down, but Medical care in Indiana remains the highest in the midwest, while care continues to decrease. With the additional loss of insurance for low income individuals, cost will continue to shift to those who have insurance. People without insurance still get sick and need medical care. Those costs will continue to be shifted and cause increase in cost of medical care for everyone else. This is not a sustainable way to manage healthcare cost. Low reimbursement rates or no reimbursement rates just shift cost to everyone else paying for insurance premiums and increase cost of medical care. The state and Federal government must pay its fair share of medical co which will help bring down the cost of medical care for everyone else.

Indiana needs to consider if the economic benefits out way the environmental impact is worth it. Indiana continues to power most of the state with coal and rates at the bottom when it comes to just about every environmental issue. The priority in Indiana leaders to me, has been to economic development even if that development may not be the best solution for funding in that community. Meanwhile, green energy solutions like Windmills and solars are banned in a significant number of our counties. The state still has not created any regulations around large water withdrawals nor has it created any long term plans to assure water is available and safe for future generations to come. I for one, think it is past time that we look at what future we are leaving for our children.
Education: Describe your stance on the Department of Education and its role in education administration, funding, and protections for students with disabilities.
Education: Since 2012, Indiana has spent over $5.5 billion in taxpayer dollars on charter schools and the private school voucher program. If elected, would you support or oppose the use of taxpayer dollars to funding private schools and charter schools? Why or why not? (Source: ICPE)
I absolutely oppose using tax dollars going to Vouchers for K-12 programs or Charter Schools. I have always voted against transfer of tax dollars and will continue to do so. The state has continued to defund public schools while Charter and Voucher dollars go to segregate schools and decrease funding to public schools that does not keep up with inflation, decreasing teacher pay or forcing cuts to the schools that serve over 90% of the children in the state.
Democracy: In your opinion, what is the biggest challenge or threat facing our democracy right now? If elected, what will you do to help overcome this challenge or threat?
I will continue to fight for the freedoms and rights that our constitution has granted. Indiana continues to pass voter suppression laws that make it harder for young and elderly people to vote with its restrictive voter ID laws. I had a bill last year that would add Real ID to the list of identification that could be used to vote which would help out of state student voters. I opposed the redistricting maps in December 2025. I assumed that they would return by 2031, but it seems they may return in the 2027 session.
Community: Describe your stance on ICE and its role in immigration enforcement and detention.
Community: What role or responsibility do local and state governments have with regards to immigration enforcement?
I think local and state government have a role to protect individuals from having their rights violated. They have a right to protect individuals from being harmed without being harmed or murdered. The state and local government should be upholding the laws and not creating laws that militarize our police or national guard against its own citizens.
