MUTUALLY ASSURED DEMOCRACY

The most important offices are the ones closest to home.
PRECINCT CHAIRS: If you are elected at the May Primary election, request a list of like-minded voters in your precinct from your county party. If you need assistance with this, please contact us at vote@madvoters.org. You have until May 20th to email your county party and name your Vice Chair. Your Vice Chair can be any registered voter in your same county. You can be related, live together or be of the same gender. You want to pick someone who will support you in your role. If you do not appoint your own Vice Chair, the county chair then gets that power.

STATE DELEGATE: You will be voting on the Secretary of State, State Auditor, and State Treasurer roles for the 2026 General Election. You'll attend a one-day state convention and gather with like-minded state delegates from across the state.
Democratic Party: Saturday, June 6th, Indy
Republican Party: Saturday, June 20th, Fort Wayne

Although candidate filing for the 2026 Primary Election has passed, there are still opportunities to get on the ballot. You don't have to wait for the filing date to start campaigning.

PUBLIC OFFICE:
If no one has filed for your party for a office, your county party can fill that vacancy from May 8th through noon July 3rd. You follow the regular steps to establish your campaign.

SCHOOL BOARD CANDIDATES:
School board candidates file beginning May 19th with a June 18th by noon deadline. To run for school board, you must get at least 10 signatures from registered voters in your district (CAN 34 form). You should collect more than the minimum in case there are any issues with verifying someone on your form. The signatures allow you to get on the ballot and is not a commitment that they will be voting for you. The CAN-12 is your statement of economic interest. It is a simple form.

Reminder that starting in 2026 elections school board candidates have the option to file nonpartisan, independent, Republican, or Democratic. If you file anything other than the two major political parties, if the position has a vacancy, it will be filled by the remaining school board members. If the person had run as a major political party and there's a vacancy, it would be filled by a party caucus, like other public offices.
